Time is running out for Tottenham Hotspur to make a move at the striker position, as there are only a couple of weeks left in the summer 2026 transfer window and not a single true No. 9 is squarely on the club's transfer radar. In fact, right now, the only concretely linked name at the center forward position is Cody Gakpo, who is actually a left winger for Liverpool - and someone the Reds are actively trying to replace with a more explosive option in Bradley Barcola of PSG.
As the transfer window winds down, expect more players to be frenetically linked to Spurs, including USMNT star Folarin Balogun, who looked like Mauricio Pochettino's new success story before the country fizzled out in their own World Cup this summer. But Balogun started the summer on a tear, looking like the United States's best player over AC Milan star Christian Pulisic, and he did have a decent season with 13 goals and 4 assists for Monaco, having once scored a whopping 21 Ligue 1 goals for Will Still's Stade de Reims juggernaut a few years ago.
While Balogun is relatively young at 25 and a better striker than Dominic Solanke and Richarlison right now, he isn't convincingly better. Tottenham need a world class 9 who can score 20 goals in a Premier League season in order to get back to competing with the other Big Six clubs, but the problem is that these strikers are not exactly growing on trees - nor are they on the market.
Victor Osimhen looks like a good deal for Tottenham
There is one option, and with Tottenham Hotspur linked to Folarin Balogun for potentially 60 million euros, he is starting to look more and more like a no brainer. Tottenham fans are hoping the club and Roberto De Zerbi ask for former Napoli star Victor Osimhen, and the same reporter who made the Balogun links, Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sports Switzerland, is reporting that Galatasaray are open to selling Osimhen for 65 million euros.
That's actually a fair price for Osimhen, because even though he is not playing in a top five league, he still showed last season in the Champions League, including in the knockouts against his old rival Juventus, that he is still a top, top striker. The former Capocannoniere and Serie A champion had 15 goals and 5 assists in the Turkish Super Lig with great all around numbers, as well as 7 goals in 10 Champions League appearances.
Victor Osimhen is a proven, world class goal scorer with the work rate and all around skill set to play in the Premier League. He is a better player than Balogun - and the players Spurs currently have at striker - and would cost about the same price. It is a no brainer for Spurs to go for him at this stage.
