Tottenham Hotspur have only made two significant sales so far in the summer transfer window, sending off Luka Vuskovic to Hamburg after he submitted a shock request for a permanent transfer after Robeto De Zerbi signed Jan Paul van Hecke and then also selling young striker WIll Lankshear to Middlesborough for a tidy sum.
More sales are coming, though, as strikers Richarlison and Dominic Solanke could be on the chopping block, while the midfielders behind Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali are not safe. Lucas Bergvall, like Vuskovic, also submitted a transfer request due to playing time concerns even before the Tonali and Fernandes additions became official.
But the biggest player set to leave Tottenham this summer - and he is almost 100 percent going - is center back Cristian Romero. The failed captain is one of the top center backs in the world and showed it at the World Cup in reaching the Final with Argentina, but he soured Spurs last season and even rubbed Roberto De Zerbi the wrong way.
Cristian Romero is close to leaving
Although many assumed Romero would be headed to La Liga, it looks like Cuti will be joining a Serie A rival from his old club Juventus, as Inter Milan have shown significant interest in him and continue to push hard for his signature.
According to a report from Andrea Paventi of Sky Sport Italia, via Lilywhite Rose, Cristian Romero is "very close" to joining the Nerazzurri this summer transfer window. Paventi said, “I believe that the parties are getting very close. A deal can be closed in the coming weeks or when Inter is in Asia.”
So it may only be a matter of time before Tottenham fans hear official confirmation that Romero is out the door and no longer a Spurs player. The problem in this case is that Inter do not have a whole lot of money to spend, and with the La. Liga giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid surprisingly not as keen on Romero this summer compared to last, the overall package for the player could be a lot less than what Spurs fans were hoping for. Figures of merely 40 million euros have been rumored as what Inter would pay for the player.
Tottenham already have Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke to replace Romero, so it may only be a matter of time before the Argentinian formally leaves Spurs this summer.
