Tottenham Hotspur have made just one major addition to their attack this summer transfer window, but that is subject to change in the final weeks of the market. Spurs have been galvanized to push more for an attacking addition after starting No. 10 James Maddison went down with a torn ACL.
Although Savinho has been closely linked to Tottenham as one of their top targets, the more likely of the two dream signings for Tottenham fans to welcome this summer is London hero Eberechi Eze, fresh off an FA Cup-winning campaign even without Michael Olise by his side.
Eze was linked to Tottenham earlier in the window, but he became a bigger target for Spurs recently after the Maddison injury. He is now seen as a "must" in the 10 role, given there are no better players available, certainly not ones with an established Premier League pedigree.
As optimism for a move has mounded since the weekend, Tottenham fans now have perhaps their biggest reason to be hopeful of a deal. Reliable Spurs journalist Paul O'Keefe has reported that Tottenham have reached a "verbal agreement" with Crystal Palace over an Eze transfer.
Tottenham agree to terms with player and club
It's unclear what the terms are, though. Tottenham have reportedly been offering 55 million pounds plus five million in bonuses, and while Palace have been asking for a little more than that, they've also been willing to take less than the expired 68 million pound release clause fee to sell Eze, particularly with Arsenal now out of the transfer race.
Eze has already agreed to personal terms with Tottenham for days now, so all that's been missing is the go-ahead from Crystal Palace. And now that Palace have reportedly given it, there's only a matter of time before Palace and Tottenham finalize this deal on an official basis.
The final step of the transfer being completed will be - and has likely been, for the past few days - Crystal Palace signing a replacement. That replacement is almost certainly going to be Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester City. Crystal Palace have been pushing hard to sign him and are close to bagging the playmaking talent from the Foxes.
Although Mohammed Kudus has the highest upside, Eberechi Eze will be, pending what happens with Savinho, the most expensive Tottenham transfer of the summer 2025 window thus far. He has the most established Premier League pedigree and is an even better attacking midfielder than Maddison because of his dribbling skills, athleticism, defensive work rate, and underrated goal-getting. He is a true star in this league, which Spurs definitely need more of in the attack.
