Tottenham Hotspur star right back Pedro Porro was one of the biggest winners of the 2026 World Cup, because not only did he literally hoist the trophy for Spain in the end, but he was also named the best right back of the tournament, establishing himself as, in the eyes of many, now the best player in the world in his position after outplaying Morocco's Achraf Hakimi, who had a disappointing 2025/26 season on the winners of Europe.
Meanwhile, Porro struggled in 2025/26 because he had to play under Thomas Frank, and while Spurs were nearly relegated, Porro's heroics under Roberto De Zerbi in the final weeks of the season were actually critical to the Lilywhites staying up.
And it says a lot about how Porro's reputation immediately rebounded that even before the World Cup starter, Real Madrid and Manchester City were back in with significant interest in the Spanish international until De Zerbi officially warded off the bidders by getting Spurs to sign the 26 year old star to a contract extension.
Everyone still covets Pedro Porro
Tottenham fans are no longer afraid of losing Pedro Porro thanks to the new deal, and Porro has also made public comments reaffirming his commitment to the club. And that's a good thing, because icons of other clubs are still pushing for elite teams in Europe to sign Porro.
The latest is former Bayern Munich defender Valerian Ismael, as the Frenchman sees just how bad the right back situation is for the Bundesliga giants and in a recent interview with BILD, is pushing for the Reds to go for Porro.
Ismael said, via iMiaSanMia, "Pedro Porro has shown that he's an outstanding defender. He would be a fantastic addition to FC Bayern. Full-backs of this caliber are always hard to find. Porro is tenacious and strong in defensive duels, quick, and always capable of producing a dangerous attacking moment. He simply has the complete package. I can absolutely see him thriving in Vincent Kompany's team - he would be a perfect fit there."
While that is all 100 percent true for Bayern Munich and the Spanish right back would easily thrive in even that pressure cauldron at the Allianz Arena as the total package at the position, Porro is not Bayern's to praise. He is Tottenham's.
And Tottenham fans thankfully do not have to worry about impassioed, flattering pleas from stars of the past like Valerian Ismael because they know Porro is staying for the long haul in North London. And it does feel good to have a "hard to find", as Ismael says, talent on their hands.
