Troy Parrott is outperforming Dominic Solanke in both of the ways that matter most

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott took center stage for the Ireland national team once more, scoring both goals in their Nations League battle gainst Austria and Kevin Danso to help his country split the spoils 2-2 against a more successul side. Parrott's second goal was deposited from the penalty spot, but the first was a lovely, mazy solo run that you could not see Tottenham's only out-and-out No. 9, Dominic Solanke, ever scoring.

In fact, Solanke has scored zero goals this season with zero dribbles completed. He has been the worst player on a team that has not won a single game in the Premier League and has only scored in one of their five fixtures, a 3-2 loss to Aston Villa just before the September international break started.

Meanwhile, Parrott has been more than just a flash in the pan over international breaks with Ireland. He just moved to one of the better teams in all of European football in Champions League side Real Betis, home of where talented players end up showing the best of themselves. Antony, Marc Bartra, Giovani Lo Celso, Pablo Fornals, and even Isco are all notable names who have found a new lease on life in the south of Spain.

Troy Parrott is doing more than just score goals

Parrott is the latest success story. In addition to shining for his country, the 24-year-old striker has scored two goals and an assist in 260 minutes between La Liga and the Champions League for the Verdiblancos. He is also averaging 2.1 key passes and 1.1 fouls drawn per 90 minutes with a key pass and two fouls drawn in his start against the Champions League.

So not only is Troy Parrott finding the back of the net, but the young, former Tottenham Hotspur is playing great all-around football as a creator and a focal point. Spurs signed Dominic Solanke because they thought he was going to be one of the most well-rounded strikers in the Premier League, but he is creating nothing and can't beat his man while obviously not doing anything to get into the box and score goals.

Parrott's goal against Austria in the 12th minute was a microcosm of everything that Solanke isn't, and alongside Will Lankshear, Parrott is yet another young former Spurs striker who is only making the decision to spend 65 million pounds on Big Dom look even worse.

He is getting into scoring positions and finishing them much better than Solanke, and he is also a more well-rounded No. 9 who creates more chances than the England international. It's painfully clear that Spurs would have been in a better place with Parrott and Solanke, but now he is to the benefit of a team actually playing Champions League football in Betis.
