Tottenham will have to make Igor Tudor pay for a mistake that isn't even his

Desperate times.

Igor Tudor has been a breath of fresh air in comparison to Thomas Frank in the sense that Tottenham Hotspur fans no longer have to listen to someone blatantly lie about how terrible this team is, and at least Tudor has the guts to right his wrongs and start players like Souza and Mathys Tel when their performances merit it.

At the same time, though, Tottenham are in crisis mode, and the crisis is only deepening. Because while Tudor actually says the right things in press conferences and has done a moderately better job at selecting players over Frank, his actual tactical acumen is arguably even worse, which makes sense since he arrived to Tottenham with even fewer past accomplishments than Frank.

But more importantly, the results themselves have not improved under Tudor. The new manager is yet to actually win a Premier League game, and he is now riding a streak of three brutal losses to London rivals Arsenal, Fulham, and Crystal Palace. Now, Tudor's Tottenham did not perform any worse against Arsenal and Fulham than Frank's Spurs did, and he may have actually eked out a win over Crystal Palace had it not been for Micky van de Ven's entirely stupid and selfish red card just before half time.

Igor Tudor is not helping Tottenham survive

So while Tudor cannot necessarily be blamed for the continued malaise at Tottenham or the specific defeats suffered by this once proud club, the reality is that he has not injected new life into this club. Tottenham's players still have their heads down low, and aside from a handful of players, Spurs literally have a squad that has mentally checked out of the season with many almost happy to see off relegation so they can be transferred elsewhere (looking at you, Van de Ven).

Tottenham may have no choice but to get so desperate with the losses piling up and now both West Ham United and Nottingham Forest hot on the Lilywhites heels after their positive results that Tudor ends up being fired as a last ditch casualty. There are so few managers available and willing to take Spurs over at this point, but, again the operative word here is not necessarily what is right but what must be done in the final hour.

Spurs will and must do anything to ensure their survival. Tudor is not the reason why Spurs were in this mess in the first place, nor is he the reason why they continue to lose. But he could be fired just as easily for not doing anything thus far to help Spurs survive.
