Tottenham Hotspur messed up badly in both the summer and winter transfer windows when they failed to bring in a new winger despite ample opportunities to sign quality players. Instead, Spurs got worse on the wings by the end of the season, as Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert suffered season ending injuries to join Dejan Kulusevski. And while selling Brennan Johnson was ultimately a wise choice, that did not help Spurs depth issues either.

The biggest name Tottenham were rumored to be interested in was Antoine Semenyo, but he was never going to pick Spurs over Manchester City. Instead, Spurs were going hard for Savinho from Man City both in the summer and then in the winter, hoping that the Semenyo move to the Etihad could open up a path to the Brazilian moving to N17.

Obviously, Savinho to Tottenham never materialized, and it is fair for fans to question just how hard Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange were actually going for the young Brazilian winger. And while Savinho didn't have his best season in 2025/26, even not being at his best, he was still better than most of the Spurs wingers.

Tottenham are still interested in Man City star

According to a report from the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, Tottenham Hotspur are rekindling their interest in the Manchester City star this summer transfer window, with Savinho valued at around 60 million pounds.

That's more reasonable than the initial prices that were being floated by Man City last summer, which seemed to meet or even exceed 80 million pounds. Although Man City never got to steal Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid - and now that the Brazilian has done his own ACL, that move may never happen - Savinho's road to Spurs is more open than ever before with Man City legend Pep Guardiola leaving as manager.

Tottenham fans will believe it when they see it with players the caliber of Savinho, because even though Daniel Levy is out, ENIC's transfer targets look even worse with a focus on players like Conor Gallagher, Marcos Senesi, and Andrew Robertson instead of exciting talents. But Savinho is a former La Liga Player of the Season contender at Girona, a good player for one of the best clubs in the Premier League, and still not yet 23 years of age. If anyone fits the profile of having promise and yet being proven at the top level, then it would be him.
