Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to sign a 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid, and here’s why this is great news for Spurs.
Recently, reports from TBR Football have emerged suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both interested in securing the services of Real Madrid's promising young talent, Arda Guler.
The 19-year-old Turkish international has struggled for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu, making only three starts in La Liga this season.
Guler's limited appearances have become a point of frustration, especially given his standout performances during UEFA Euro 2024, where he helped Turkey reach the quarter-finals.
His ability to score and assist, placing him in the company of legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, has only increased the anticipation surrounding his future.
As both Spurs and United vie for a top-four finish in the Premier League, the potential arrival of Guler could prove to be a significant boost for Tottenham, and here is why.

If we closely analyse Tottenham’s current situation in midfield and attack, several critical insights emerge. First, regardless of whether Son Heung-min extends his contract, we must acknowledge that he is entering the latter stages of his career.
While he remains an invaluable asset, it’s unrealistic to expect him to maintain his current level for the next five years. This makes it imperative for Tottenham to start planning for the future, a strategy they appear to be implementing with signings like Wilson Odobert, which is a smart move.
However, the potential signing of Arda Guler carries even more significance. While he may not be a direct successor to Son Heung-min, he could become an essential piece for a Tottenham side transitioning post-Son.
Guler is not just a goal scorer; he possesses the ability to operate effectively between the lines, showcasing excellent ball control, vision for long passes, and a decent shot. Despite his youth and lack of imposing physicality, his skill set is more than adequate for success in any club that offers a conducive environment.
In a Tottenham setup that has shifted to a more offensive approach, featuring two attacking-minded central players like James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, Guler could seamlessly fit into an interior or false interior role.
He could function as an attacking midfielder, linking up with the front three or starting from the right wing, his most frequent position this season, as reflected in his heat map from SofaScore.
From there, he would have the flexibility to drop deeper when necessary, orchestrating play and creating opportunities for his teammates.
This is why we believe Arda Guler would be a fantastic addition for a future Tottenham side, and perhaps not a distant future, but one in the next year or two. If the opportunity arises, it would be a brilliant move for Tottenham to capitalise on his signing.
