You can't help but watch the 80-second highlight reel that's doing the rounds without purring with excitement. We've known for a little while that this kid might be something different. At youth level, he's a cut or six above, performing with the nonchalant swagger of a teenager who knows how good he is.
We haven't yet seen much of Williams-Barnett with the first-team. There's been just the one solitary appearance, against Doncaster Rovers. I'm sure we'll see lots of him over the next few weeks. Whether that means Roberto De Zerbi backs him for his first-team in 2026/27 is another matter, but perform as he did on Wednesday, and the kid has a chance.
So, this performance, eh? 45 minutes of bliss. A dazzling No. 10 by trade, Williams-Barnett masqueraded as a No. 6 at Hotspur Way. The game came to him. He dictated tempo like it was second nature, but wasn't merely metronomic. Gifted space, Williams-Barnett delivered the killer pass. Yang Min-hyeok denied him an Andrea Pirlo-like assist.
The kid glides; a dancer in another life. He renders defenders irrelevant when he opts to surge, and to me, it looks like he's filled out a bit, which will only help when he transitions into senior football.
Whether Williams-Barnett can extrapolate this level of talent to the highest level is a question that can only be answered in time, and with experience. What we saw on Wednesday was incredibly encouraging, and I don't think there's a single Spurs supporter who isn't excited to see what he can do over the summer.
We've seen Mikel Arteta trust a 15-year-old down Seven Sisters Road, and Williams-Barnett certainly has the talent to smitten win-now merchant De Zerbi before the 2026/27 season gets underway.
