With the appointment of a new manager expected imminently, things are starting to move for Tottenham in the transfer market.

By that, I mean we're finally being linked with a few names after weeks of radio silence while Ange Postecoglou's future remained in doubt.

Johan Lange is no longer identifying targets for the dogmatic Australian but for a familiar face in Thomas Frank. And no, I'm not saying that merely because they're both Danish. The pair actually coached together way back when for Superliga outfit Lyngby.

There's hope that a shared vision will emerge, and a host of Premier League stars have been linked with moves to north London since news of Frank's likely arrival broke. Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White is the latest.

Tottenham will have to break the bank to sign Morgan Gibbs-White

According to The Daily Mail's Tom Collomosse, Tottenham could emerge in the race to sign the Forest playmaker this summer after Manchester City dropped out of the race.

Gibbs-White helped inspire Forest to their maiden European berth since the days of Brian Clough last season, recording 15 goal contributions in the Premier League.

He thrived for Nuno Espirito Santo's transition-heavy side, proving to be an irresistible force when handed space to drive into on the counter-attack. Crucially, Gibbs-White is a shrewd decision-maker when forced to make the final action, and he's a dogged worker without the ball.

There's plenty to like about the England international, but I find it hard to believe that Spurs will move for a player who was priced out of a switch to Man City. God knows how negotiations between Daniel Levy and Evangelos Marinakis would go down, too. Bloodbath. Forest will be desperate to keep their creative talisman ahead of their Conference League campaign.

Spurs will surely have to pay a record fee to think about signing the 25-year-old, who doesn't necessarily fill a position of need. Frank has James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski to play with from a number ten role. The same could be said of Eberechi Eze, whom many Spurs fans are desperate to acquire, but the Crystal Palace star is perhaps more comfortable drifting out to the left flank. Gibbs-White, while capable of drifting, too, is more of a straight-line runner who completes his best work from central zones.

All of Spurs' rumoured targets will cost a pretty penny, and Levy is going to have to fork out the cash to acquire prized assets from Premier League clubs. However, if there's one player I'm breaking the bank for, it's Adam Wharton. Talk about a midfield profile we desperately need.
