Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi is already pulling hard for the Lilywhites to make two huge midfield upgrades, as he wants to sign BOTH Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes from their current Premier League clubs - not just one or the other separately.

Having just brought in Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, De Zerbi is going to stop at nothing until one of the four worst teams in the Premier League finally has a roster suiting a top four finish again, and the midfield and attack are definitely huge areas of weakness for Spurs.

Suddenly, though, Tottenham have an even more gifted midfielder to add to their transfer wish list than either Tonali or Fernandes, and it is a player they were already watching last year before he blew up to even greater heights.

Tottenham can get their Modric back

Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Real Madrid are about to make a bafflingly bad decision. They are prepared to sell Nico Paz to a club in the Premier League instead of keeping one of the best midfielders in the world from the 2025/26 season - and Serie A's best overall player - for a mere nine million euros, or just letting him shine for Como for one more season before bringing him back.

Look, Tottenham Hotspur have to 100 percent be all over this and dial up Real Madrid on the phone, because this is a Real Madrid midfield prospect sale to the Premier League that would make way, way more of an impact than the Martin Odegaard transfer to Arsenal did.

Paz was a much better academy prospect than Odegaard, he had a way better attitude, and he actually defends and progresses the ball at a high level. His goal scoring and assist numbers, even, are superior to Odegaard's when he was in La Liga.

Tottenham already have Xavi Simons and James Maddison in the attacking midfield, but Paz is more of an 8 than a 10, because he does a lot of carrying and defending in a box to box role to start transition attacks for Como. Calling him just a 10 or a playmaker is a serious disservice, and if there were any heir to Luka Modric in world football today, then it would be this guy right here.

Imagine if Real Madrid sold their next Modric back to Tottenham this time around. Spurs need to do what it takes to get on the phone and negotiate, pronto.
