Tottenham may yet get their opportunity to land one of their reported striker targets this summer after an agent denied an agreement with another club. Roberto De Zerbi knows he needs at least one new striker this summer following Randal Kolo Muani's PSG return.

Spurs may also lose Richarlison, which would leave them needed two now forwards, but for now it is at least one. With so many other signings required, Spurs will have to be smart in the market, with striker signings never coming cheap, although, there isn't usually a large pool of options to choose from, hence Spurs had to settle for a loan deal last summer.

Guirassy remains on the table

One forward who has been linked with a move to Spurs is Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, who could leave Borussia Dortmund this summer having put together an impressive 22-goal season.

There were reports that Fenerbahce had reached an agreement to sign Guirassy, but the player's agent and brother has now shut that down. Karamba Guirassy said: "To clarify: no agreement of any kind has been reached. Serhou is currently evaluating his options for next season. Any claim of a verbal deal is simply not true.”

That is good news for Tottenham, particularly with the forward openly considering his options. Guirassy is 30 years of age, so it's likely he would be a relatviely short-term option, but his age is likely to be reflected in the pric,e, which is likely to be at least £34.5million.

But having scored 22 goals in Bundesliga in the season just gone, he is clearly still capable of being a consistent goalscorer, and that's something Spurs definitely need having not had one since Harry Kane.

Kovac praise

Dortmund boss Niko Kovac has praised Guirassy plenty in the past, and said back in September: "I've used the term 'life insurance' several times myself. Serhou is a very important player for us.

Someone who scores goals - even in impossible situations. He was under pressure for the first goal, was saved, and yet he still scored. Top striker! Bayern has Kane, City has Haaland and we have Guirassy."

That only highlights the level of goalscorer Guirassy is, and how he perfectly fits the criteria Spurs are looking for. Tottenham simply haven't been getting enough goals from their frontmen, and while a goalscoring forward is not always necessary, it makes life much easier when you have one.
