Following Tottenham Hotspur's recent defeats, both fans and players find themselves in a state of frustration.

Spurs' recent slump has put both the players and manager under intense scrutiny, and now, a player has delivered a brutally honest assessment that might just leave Daniel Levy with a major decision to make.

Cristian Romero, who has been plagued by injuries this season, took the opportunity to make his feelings known, not just about his own situation but about the broader issues plaguing the club.

His comments, made after the Chelsea defeat, have raised eyebrows, particularly in how they directly challenge the club’s leadership and its approach to building a competitive squad.

The Argentina international, speaking to Telemundo Deportes and quoted by Football London, highlighted how other clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea continue to strengthen their squads, while Tottenham has failed to make similar moves.

"You have to realise that something is going wrong, hopefully, they [the board] realise it," Romero said, urging the board to recognise their responsibility. "The last few years, it's always the same; first the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it's always the same people responsible."

His comments were not just about a lack of depth but also about the continuous cycle of managerial changes that has haunted the club for years.

Romero's candid remarks have put extra pressure on Daniel Levy to make a decision that could shape the future of the club.

With Tottenham facing yet another disappointing season, the question is: will Levy continue with his reactive approach or fully back Postecoglou, as Romero believes is necessary?

In his comments, Romero made it clear that Tottenham should be competing for titles with the right investment.

He pointed out that clubs like Liverpool, who made major signings like Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, have reaped the rewards of their commitment.

A change must be made

In contrast, Spurs have failed to make similar moves, and their lack of depth has been laid bare this season. With key players sidelined, the team is struggling to maintain momentum, and the pressure on Postecoglou is growing.

Levy now finds himself at a crossroads. Does he finally provide the necessary financial backing to support Postecoglou and build a squad capable of competing at the highest level?

Or does he stick with the current model, where managerial changes and lack of investment continue to leave Spurs adrift?

The next few months could define Levy’s legacy at Tottenham, and with Romero’s comments ringing in his ears, it’s clear that a major decision is looming.
