Tottenham Hotspur are trying to add talent to their squad, and they have already landed three quality Premier League defenders with designs on a double swoop of top midfielders in the English first division in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. And then there is, of course, the long time pursuit of much needed Manchester City winger Savinho.
Yet the new story gripping Tottenham is the potential exit of 19 year old sensation Luka Vuskovic, who appears to have gone a little too big for his own cranium even though he did nothing impressive in Croatia's 4-2 loss to England, as Spurs legend Harry Kane showed him levels in the mental game.
Vuskovic, though, continues to push for a move to Brighton, of all clubs, as he is rejecting loan deals even though he had told everyone for months he wanted to stay on loan with Hamburg for the 2026/27 season so he could play with his brother.
Tottenham drama continues
Now, Vuskovic has at least upgraded from hiding behind his reps and media sources to flat out saying what he really feels. For some reason, he does not feel appreciated by Tottenham Hotspur, and he wants to either start for them immediately or be transferred permanently to another club that will.
Take a look at what Luka Vuskovic told Croatian outlet HRT while with the Croatian national team during the World Cup at a press conference, via The Croatian, “I’m focused on the World Cup at the moment, but my goal is to have a season at the club in which I’ll play, where they want me, and we will see what happens in the coming days/weeks,”
Yeah, reading between the lines, Vuskovic is not, as he tries to say, totally focused on the World Cup. He is also focused on this upcoming transfer away from Tottenham to potentially Brighton, the club that will apparently want him and play him.
But the thing is, Tottenham want him, too. They just do not want him now, and Vuskovic either has to be smarter, less emotional, or less arrogant to understand that Spurs do not want him now because he is not ready yet for the Premier League and to start for a massive club. He will be destroyed by the expectations. The man needs one more year of seasoning, but if he keeps talking like this out in public and pushing so hard for a transfer, Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs are going to have no choice but to condemn him to his fate and sell.
