There is optimism that a bold new era could be beginning at Tottenham Hotspur under Thomas Frank, who was recently hired to take over for Ange Postecoglou - another bold manager who brought Spurs their first Europa League title victory in 41 years.
Frank is known for producing some of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League over the years. First, it was striker Ivan Toney. And last season, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa were two of the best forwards in the Premier League with a combined 39 goals while Mikel Damsgaard and Kevin Schade were also highly impressive.
While Frank is aiming to bring Mbeumo and Wissa, he isn't only looking at former Brentford players as Tottenham transfer targets this summer. The Danish manager has been linked to a variety of top attackers around the Premier League and Europe as a whole, such as Rennes' Armand Kalimuendo and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze.
Tottenham want to sign one of their rivals' best players
According to a new report from The Guardian's Barry Glendenning, Tottenham have turned their focus to wantaway West Ham center forward Mohammed Kudus, who is one of the most talented but also one of the most inconsistent attacking players in the Premier League.
London rivals West Ham seem open to selling Kudus this summer in order to sign other players who fit what they want to do better, and Kudus is someone the Hammers can sell for a lot of money. Tottenham are prepared to bid as much as 50 million pounds in order to test out West Ham's willingness to sell the Ghanian international, though that bid would still be under his release clause of about 85 million pounds, which it seems like only Saudi Pro League clubs would be interested in activating.
Kudus is being monitored by the biggest clubs in the Premier League, as Tottenham's bigger London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have already been linked to the electrifying dribbler from West Ham. Frank has worked wonders with raw attacking talents, so you can only imagine what he'd be able to do with a 24-year-old who averaged 4.9 combined dribbles completed and fouls drawn per game in a down year.
West Ham almost certainly aren't going to be willing to sell Kudus for just 50 million pounds, but they will have to readjust their expectations and sell the player for less than the release clause, especially if Kudus pushes his way out. Tottenham need to convince both West Ham and Kudus, but if they are willing to bid a little more and Frank is confident he can work his magic with him, this is a a deal Spurs supporters should watch closely this summer.
