Tottenham Hotspur have made another huge move in the transfer market. One day after confirming the blockbuster signing of Mateus Fernandes for 85 million pounds, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Spurs are now sending star center back Luka Vuskvoic to Brighton for 50 million pounds, ending a transfer saga that began with Vuskovic submitting a transfer request to the club following their big ticket acquistion of Roberto De Zerbi's favored center back target Jan Paul van Hecke.

Brighton's old manager, De Zerbi has always loved Van Hecke, who played the best football of his career under the Italian manager. Van Hecke prioritized Tottenham over everything else in order to work with De Zerbi again, believing in his ambitious new project with Spurs.

Meanwhile, Vuskovic saw the writing on the wall in terms of his playing time, and instead of agreeing to another loan deal after his insane 2025/26 season with Hamburg, Vuskovic demanded a transfer out, because he wants to start no matter what.

Tottenham are not done

Vuskovic will now get his wish, and he will get to use Brighton as a stepping stone for Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich. As for Tottenham Hotspur, they are moving on and pocketing the money, and now with Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke secured, Spurs are looking to put that extra 50 million pounds to good use.

They probably are not going to sign another center back with that cash. Spurs are already loaded at the position with Marcos Sensi and Van Hecke joining Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso, and then there is Kota Takai on loan. Meanwhile, Spurs are actually working to sell Cristian Romero at the center back position.

Tottenham do need attacking talent on the left wing and at striker, but before that, Spurs wanted to address their midfield after completing the defense with the trio of signings Andy Robertson, Senesi, and Van Hecke.

So to complete the midfield, the next move after selling Luka Vuskovic was always 100 percent going to be getting the Sandro Tonali move from Newcastle United over the line. Roberto De Zerbi wants the Italian international from Brescia just as badly as Mateus Fernandes, because even though Tonali is a bit older, he may be even better, especially when it comes to what he can provide on the attacking end if all clicks with De Zerbi. The Spurs manager wants a midfield fit to dominate in the modern day, and Tonali is the missing piece for him; that was the next order of business with more cash from the Vuskovic sale.

And now that Tonali has been confirmed on a 100 million pound deal, Tottenham need to address the attack. It cannot just be one player, either. Spurs need to sign multiple star level players in multiple positions who are world class and can create chances and score goals. Richarlison cannot be their leading scorer, and they cannot go into another season without even half replacing Son Heung-min and Harry Kane. The attack is now priority No. 1.
