Tottenham Hotspur have only a couple of weeks to finish their summer 2026 transfer business, and as Savinho tries to ramp up the pressure on a surprisingly stubborn Manchester City, Spurs supporters are faced with a scary proposition of the club failing to sign any forward upgrades to a unit whose only somewhat present goal scorer last season was Richarlison - a player many felt could be transferred out this summer after multiple windows of being on the block.
While Spurs have a couple of really interesting pieces in the front line, specifically wingers Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel, the striker positoin is a disaster zone. And Tel is still young and growing, while Kudus is not a true goal scorer.
Tottenham fans are hoping for the club to make multiple signings up front, with at least one winger and one new striker coming into the club. And they want players who can start immediately and be even better than Tel and Richarilson, because with all due respect to those two, they are not quite the level of starter needed for Spurs to reliable finish in the top five.
Tottenham need more attacking quality
Whether or not Tottenham Hotspur's summer 2026 transfer window is a success without new attacking signings is a subject of debate among the Lilywhite faithful, because even though Spurs have vastly upgraded their squad with players like Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, the upgrades feel incomplete and the new midfield won't be able to have its biggest impact if the players in front of them are not up to par.
So Tottenham's solution has to be multi modal. They need to sign players on the wings and in the middle who can score and create. They don't need to sign players who can do both simultaneously, but they need to make multiple signings of players who are either good at both or great at one or the other and can harmonize together to form a more cogent attack for Roberto De Zerbi.
Although the saying is that defense wins champoinships and Spurs do have a pretty good defense on paper, you can't truly excel in world football without a great attack. Winning a title the way Arsenal did maybe works one year in an especially weak season, but that is obviously not the way Spurs are going to play their football. De Zerbi knows he needs to flood attacking talent, and that has to be the solution: Cody Gakpo, Savinho, and a striker - all three - is far better than the first two with no No. 9.
