The Richarlison saga has not completely gone away even as the drama has been quieted by sheer virtue of the fact that most of the transfer windows in world football have closed. But not all of them have, and Tottenham Hotspur actually still have chances to get rid of Richy, make a little bit of money, and end an unnecessarily dramatic fallout saga between Roberto De Zerbi and the disgraced Tottenham striker.
After Richarlison kiboshed a reunion to Everton and a move to the supposed club of his heart, Vasco da Gama in Brazil, because he did not want to take lower wages, which is understandable, Tottenham themselves have now rejected a second offer of their own. After unwisely declining a transfer that would have sent Richarlison to Mohamed Salah's Trabzsonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, which would have paid Richy handsomely, Spurs have rejected another potential financial windfall for both Richarlison and the club themselves.
Tottenham would rather keep Richarlison sidelined
According to a report from ESPN Brasil, via Planeta do Futebol, UAE powerhouse Shabab Al Ahli actually just submitted a transfer proposal for Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. But Spurs rejected. Apparently, they woul rather keep Richy sitting on the bench and not even registered in the squad than make some money for him now, as the plan is to try and find a better landing spot and financial opportunity in the January 2027 transfer window.
That honestly makes zero sense, because unless if a team is willing to spend to sign Richarlison immediately for the final six months than rather wait to just sign him for free in the summer, then Spurs are going to get absolutely nothing out of the Brazilian No. 9. Richarlison had no future at Tottenham Hotspur, he and Roberto De Zerbi basically hate each other, and even before all of that, Richy made it pretty clear that if he was not going to be the clear No. 1 striker, he would not sign a one year extension with Spurs.
The situation has become untenable, and it is totally bizarre that neither Tottenham nor seemingly Richarlison would want to push for this sensible transfer to Shabab Al Ahli, where Richy could at least play for a few months before deciding a new destination and actually play while getting a pretty good check. Meanwhile, Spurs keep this albatross on their squad for longer and lose out on easy money for a player who won't even register.
