Tottenham Hotspur were able to survive relegation on the final day of the Premier League season with a hard fought 1-0 win over Everton, and in doing so, they doomed their historic London rivals West Ham United to the drop in a result that felt even sweeter with how much the Hammers faithful were begging for Spurs to face relegation.
As Tottenham fans unfortunately became well accustomed to in the final weeks of that mad race away from the bottom, several of West Ham's best players are mired in transfer rumors as a result of relegation. And two of their forwards, wingers Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville, have been linked to Spurs.
Of those two, Summerville was the one that piqued Spurs interest the most, but they have bowed out of the transfer battle with a focus on Manchester City star Savinho, though links to the Brazilian international have seemingly quietly cooled recently.
PSG are after West Ham forward
Summerville's interest in the market has been relatively sparse, but out of nowhere, a French outlet is linking the Dutch international to the biggest club in France. According to a report from Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis of Foot Mercato, reigning back to back Champions League winners PSG are surprisingly interested in the West Ham left winger.
It is truly a transfer bomb from the blue, as PSG are the best team in the world and rife with amazing wingers like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, and Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele (who starts at striker for them). Crysencio Summerville, meanwhile, is an unproven flash in the pan who looks like a star in a few games but is anonymous in many others.
Still, PSG must see something special in him, and they have been pretty close to batting 1.000 with Luis Campos and Luis Enrique when it comes to exciting young wide forwards. PSG are also interested in Mateus Fernandes, but the 50 million pound rated Summerville is on their list, too.
Maybe Tottenham Hotspur fans will live to regret Summerville as another winger transfer who got away from them, just as they are ruing not going after Desire Doue, who made the move within Ligue 1 to PSG. Spurs were linked but did not show enough interest, failing to make a serious offer from Daniel Levy. Summerville is not as touted as Doue, but having got a chance to watch him close and personal at West Ham, maybe Spurs are missing the boat and not seeing what PSG are.
