Already, Tottenham Hotspur fans have been surprised by a couple of things about Randal Kolo Muani this offseason after he officially exited the Lilywhites back to PSG after a miserably failed one year loan deal to the Premier League.
As horrendous as Kolo Muani was, Juventus never wavered in their interest in reuniting with the striker who spent the 2024/25 season on loan with them - his only successful campaign since he initially left Eintracht Frankfurt for PSG as a nearly 100 million euro transfer bust. In fact, Juve were so surprisingly interested in Kolo Muani, whom Tottenham stole from under their noses last summer thanks to Fabio Paratici, that they ended up paying a total exceeding 50 million euros when factoring in add ons to the deal.
Tottenham have lived to regret missing out on players plenty of times before, and it is true that it is not easy for a striker to succeed on a team that finished in 17th and had no control over the midfield. But even if Kolo Muani goes back to Turin and has a great season for a Bianconeri side that is admittedly also one of Europe's most disappointing - and has cycled through plenty of strikers over the last five years, too - Spurs honestly should not have the slightest regret. And they should not entertain any, say, Arsenal or West Ham United fans giving them grief if RKM does well in Serie A next season.
Randal Kolo Muani did not fit the Premier League
First of all, 50 million euros is a lot of money to be spending on a player who has never been proven ta the highest level, and even his good season for Juve in Serie A in 2024/25 came against weak competition.
Second of all, Randal Kolo Muani clearly did not fit the Premier League. Not only was his mentality poor in essentially giving up on Spurs during the relegation fight, but he was also far too passive and unwilling to track back, muck it up in the box, or work shooting opportunities for himself on the ball. Meanwhile, Richarlison fought tooth and nail for scraps, which is why he led Spurs with 11 Premier League goals whereas Kolo Muani scored a pathetic one goal.
Serie A has more space and is a league falling in terms of producing young talents and talent overall. It is an easier league for a finesse striker like Kolo Muani who does not like to fight for plays to excel in. Tottenham already saw Kolo Muani fail spectacularly in England, and even if he does well for Juve, in which case his success would only be modest anyway, he 1) might not be worth 50 million euros and 2) couldn't cut it in the Premier League either way.
