Tottenham Hotspur were able to avoid a historic relegation from the Premier League this season by the skin of their teeth, defeating Everton 1-0 to finally control their own destiny. On that same Sunday, rivals West Ham United's relegation back to the EFL Championship years lafter was confirmed, even though they trounced the same Leeds United side 3-0 that Spurs had only drawn 1-1 just a couple of games prior.

Spurs and West Ham have a pretty one sided rivalry, in the sense that the Hammers despise Spurs, whereas Spurs are more preoccupied with competing with Arsenal and Chelsea at the top. Of course, in recent years, Spurs have been closer to West Ham at the bottom of the Premier League table, and they are hoping to finally have the right kind of summer transfer window that gets them back out of the doldrums of English football.

Although many Tottenham fans bristle at the idea of poaching players from relegated clubs, lest they stoop further down to that level, some of Spurs most talented players have come from these kinds of teams, such as James Maddison from Leicester City and Wilson Odobert from Burnley in their attack.

Tottenham interested in West Ham forward

According to reporting from @szyexcl and others, Tottenham Hotspur have found their first potential transfer target to take away from rivals West Ham and rescue from the Premier League drop in Hammers left winger Crysencio Summerville. Spurs are reportedly interested in the Dutch international, and while they have yet to make a concrete approach for the explosive attacking player, they are indeed interested and have him on their list of potential winger targets this summer.

After failing to sign Antoine Semenyo, Savinho, and Ademola Lookman in the last summer and winter transfer windows, Tottenham are desperate to add more help on the wings. Mathys Tel is currently their only true winger, as Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert both had season ending injuries while Dejan Kulusevski's knee injury has cost him more than a year of action.

West Ham have another great winger worth watching in Jarrod Bowen, one of Europe's best right sided players, but he is little bit on the older side. Crysencio Summerville is not the proven product yet, but the 24 year old is on the rise and makes sense as a potential high upside target for Spurs if the price is right, potentially competing with Mathys Tel and maybe even an incoming Savinho. Summerville makes sense as a rotational player, though Spurs fans may argue it is better to spend on a bigger and more established player and just stick with Tel as his No. 2.
