Although Richarlison came into the 2026/27 Premier League season favored to keep his job at Tottenham Hotspur even with the Lilywhites keenly interested in Omar Marmoush as a new center forward with Cody Gakpo also high on their wish list of forward targets, the Brazilian international quickly threw all that good will away on Matchday 1 against Brentford.
Going down like a sack of feathers at the lightest of touches, Richarlison spent more time on the ground than he did doing anything meaningful with the ball for Tottenham. Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke was bullying the Charlton Athletic defense and making everyone around him better, aiding young wingers Mathys Tel and Mikey Moore greatly while bagging a goal of his own.
Obviously, Richarlison and Solanke were facing two very different caliber of opponents, but it was jarring to see how woeful Richy was against Brentford - and him playing like this was nothing new, even if he outperformed Solanke in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Tottenham need serious cash out of Richarlison
Tottenham have a tough decision to make at striker, but Roberto De Zerbi appears to like Solanke a lot more than he does Richarlison. And so Spurs are just waiting for the right offer to come across their desk this summer. Between the two veteran No. 9's, Richarlison actually looks like the one more likely to garner a great offer before the close of the transfer window.
Ben Jacobs reported on the Last Word on Spurs show that Tottenham Hotspur supporters should keep a close eye on Richarilson as the window closes. More teams are said to be interested in signing the striker, including those in the Saudi Pro League. Jacobs specifically mentioned Al-Ahli as a team that could be interested.
Tottenham have fielded plenty of transfer offers for Richarlison before, and they actually came close to selling him for around 50 million euros to the Saudi Pro League back in 2024, only for Richy to cause the dael to fall apart because he did not want to leave Spurs and European football just yet.
But now may be the time for Richarlison to part ways, especially if Tottenham end up wanting to spend serious money to bring in Cody Gakpo for Roberto De Zerbi to fill out a new look front three with Manchester City men Savio and Omar Marmoush. In that case, Tottenham are begging for a big offer from Saudi or Turkey to come across their desk for Richy so they can finally accept it this time.
