Tottenham Hotspur were able to sign two top young players last summer transfer window in Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus, but they missed out on many more top targets due to a lack of clout. Bryan Mbeumo and Eberechi Eze were among those who chose rival Big Six clubs over Spurs, while Morgan Gibbs-White preferred to put his head down and stay with Evangelos Marinakis and Nottingham Forest rather than fight for a move to the N17.
Then in the winter, Spurs did not sign a single top player, with Antoine Semenyo rejecting them before the January transfer window even started. Tottenham are still struggling to land the marquee talents on the transfer market, and now that they are fending off relegation in desperate fashion, it is difficult to envision their fortunes changing in 2026, even if they are able to stay up in the Premier League.
Tottenham did not sign a single winger in the winter despite injury blows and the sale of Brennan Johnson, so that is going to be their biggest need again this summer. Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and RB Leipzig youngster Yan Diomande are two of their biggest targets, and aside from price (which is a huge concern with the 100 million euro rated Diomande), Tottenham may as well kiss these two dream winger targets goodbye with the level of interest they are getting from bigger clubs.
Manchester United want Diomande and Ndiaye
According to a new report from Danyal Khan of Sky Sports News, not only is Diomande high on Manchester United's transfer wish list, but the Red Devils are also monitoring Ndiaye as a left winger target this summer.
The left wing is one of United's last big needs remaining, particularly in the attack, as they do not have an out and out winger. Khan says that the Red Devils could make a move for the 19 year old sensation early in the summer, as his sensational season with Leipzig in the Bundesliga is making it seem like he is worth the price.
Yan Diomande was always going to be a step above Tottenham Hotspur's reach, but Everton's Iliman Ndiaye seemed like a realistic and versatile target as one of the most exciting dribblers and ball progressors as a major breakout star in the 2025/26 Premier League season. But if Manchester United are interested, Spurs may not stand a chance. They already lost out on Mbeumo to United last summer despite a Thomas Frank advantage on their side, and with United back in Champions League contention, Spurs are way, way behind.
