Tottenham Hotspur did not have a whole lot of bright spots during the 2025/26 season, but one of the few positives was young winger Mikey Moore, who had a strong season under Danny Rohl at Rangers after a rough start to the campaign under a far less competent coach.

Moore really showed up in the biggest games for the Scottish Powerhouse, scoring and dominating Old Firm Derbies against Celtic, particularly playing at his best in the final minutes of matches. The young man has great character, leadership potential, skill on the ball, physical tools, bravery, and the eye for the spectacular in front of goal when it matters most with a real clutch gene.

Everything so far has pointed to Moore returning to Tottenham permanently at the end of the 2025/26 season, and while Rangers are desperate to keep him around, Rohl's departure to RB Salzburg may not help them build a case for keepin the Spurs talent on the wings. Plus, Moore himself has made it clear that his goal is to return to Spurs and help them. He likes his chances of competing for a starting spot, and so do many Tottenham fans.

Tottenham might be changing their minds on Mikey Moore

Now, Moore probably is not ready to be a main starter yet, but he showed enough at Rangers to make Spurs fans think he can compete with the likes of Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, and even if Spurs complete the signing of blockbuster Manchester City winger talent Savinho, he could still get significant minutes for Roberto De Zerbi.

However, in a bit of a twist, Michael Bridge of Sky Sports reported on an episode of Last Word on Spurs that Mikey Moore will actually be going back on loan for the 2026/27 season, too.

It is unclear where Moore's next loan destination would be, and while he is quite comfortable at Rangers and they are a historic club that plays in Europe, sticking a young player where they are comfortable is hardly the move.

If Tottenham Hotspur are not going to bring back Moore to test him under their unique pressure and against Premier League competition, then Spurs either need to test him somewhere else in the English top flight, perhaps to a newly promoted side like Coventry, or they need to give him his first taste of top five European league action in the Bundesliga or Serie A - leagues that have transition opportunities in spades that can help Moore give the confidence to make decisions on his own against other top players.
