The Tottenham fanbase is growing disillusioned with the club's transfer policy, yet many would undoubtedly come around if they're able to snag one of the Bundesliga's brightest talents this year.

Spurs entered the January transfer window with a couple of distinct needs. However, the midfield passer we desperately require remains anonymous, while the idea of boosting our attacking firepower has so far been neglected. As it stands, we're poised to land two left-backs and Conor Gallagher.

The potential arrival of 31-year-old Andy Robertson provides more evidence of a rather confused strategy, even if the Scotsman supplies intangibles that are capable of helping Thomas Frank's side in the short-term.

How we haven't tried to land a wide player is beyond me. We sold Brennan Johnson at the start of the window and almost immediately after lost Mohammed Kudus to a significant enough injury. Frank is desperately short up top, and the starlet who's been fluttering around rumour mills is most likely unattainable this month.

Leading contender for Yan Diomandé turning to alternatives

Still, Tottenham have been handed a small boost in their reported pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé.

According to BILD via (Bayern & Germany on X), Bayern Munich, who are almost always in the race to land the division's most exciting prospects, have turned to an alternative as a result of Leipzig's hefty demands.

They're only willing to spend €60m on the teenager, while Leipzig, who do not need to sell this month, are holding out for closer to €100m—potentially a record sale.

While Spurs have been linked, there's little to no hope of the club coming close to meeting Leipzig's demands before the January deadline. I'd love a new attacker to arrive as much as the next man, but paying that for Diomande, who merely has a few months of standout work on his resumé, would be foolish in our current situation.

We can see how things transpire during the second half of the season, and over the summer. Diomandé is heading to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast, and he's certainly a contender for a huge-money transfer post-tournament. Bayern, though, won't pay an obscene fee, increasing the likelihood that the winger ends up in the Premier League for the start of the 2026/27 season.

Liverpool are also said to be interested, and the Reds will almost certainly attain a Mohamed Salah successor this summer.
