Maybe things are looking up.

Tottenham Hotspur finally showed some fight in the relegation battle, nicking a point off reigning Premier League champions Liverpool 1-1, as Richarlison did what he does best, score a late goal in a relegation scrap in a head to head matchup with the Reds.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and although Spurs have to fight at home against Atletico Madrid like they believe a Remontada is still possible, most fans have their eyes truly peeled to the wekend relegation six pointer against Ange Postecoglou's most recent club, Nottingham Forest.

Spurs are mere points of Forest, and if they were to lose to another former manager of theirs in Nuno Espirito Santo, then they would potentially fall into the relegation zone and be leapfrogged by a team that previously looked like the worst in the entire Premier League at one point.

Lucas Bergvall is back

But that is the level Tottenham have been playing at, and although things were not looking much better under Igor Tudor, the draw against Liverpool, flawed as they may be themselves, could potentially lead to a change of the winds.

Better yet, Spurs have tangible news to give them strength going into this game. Lucas Bergvall had been out for several games again with an injury, but out of nowhere, he showed up to practice and is, per Igor Tudor, slated to be in the squad for the upcoming Champions League Round of 16 tilt against Atletico Madrid.

Bergvall was one of Tottenham's best players in the 2024/25 season, so his return is a massive, massive development for Spurs. Thomas Frank did not make full use of the Swedish international early in the season, so this is a huge opportunity for Igor Tudor to assert himself to the Tottenham Hotspur faithful by making a healthy Bergvall a key part of the team.

If Bergvall is ready enough to be a part of the squad against Atletico Madrid, then he could very well be ready enough to play meaningful minutes against Nottingham Forest. And goodness gracious, do Spurs need that young, energetic uplift to their midfield. Conor Gallagher has been dreadful in Bergvall's stead, while Forest have the best young box to box breakout midfielder in the Premier League in Elliot Anderson, who was once a loosely rumored Tottenham transfer target. Bergvall's return is a potential game changer for a Spurs side that was in need of one.
