Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in signing Manchester City star winger Savinho for weeks now, but there has been zero movement on that front. Despite Spurs picking up the phone and submitting transfer offers for the player rated at approximately 70 million euros, Manchester City have not budged.
It appears Man City haven't been set on their own decision with Savinho either. At first, they seemed opened to selling him for a reasonable fee. Then, Manchester City had their internal doubts about their squads ability to withstand his loss, not to mention the FOMO of potentially watching Tottenham turn the talented 21-year-old into a true Premier League superstar.
So Manchester City have balked on selling the top-class Brazilian forward, especially since the only alternative upgrade, Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid, has not been made available for transfer this summer window.
According to the latest from Football.London's Alasdair Gold, the two main available winger targets for Tottenham Hotspur as alternatives to Savinho are Monaco youngster Maghnes Akliouche and Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.
Tottenham want one of Serie A's best again
Both names have been linked to Tottenham this summer transfer window, and Akliouche has been consistently mentioned as a possible alternative to Savinho or Eberechi Eze, as he can play as a winger or even as a No. 10.
Akliouche is just 23 and prized by Monaco, but there's a sense that he could be sold for around 50 million pounds if Tottenham make the offer. Although Akliouche mostly plays on the right side of the foramtion, like Savinho, and that is where Mohammed Kudus makes his home, he still has the versatility to play in other positions.
Lookman is the more attractive hire. He has been one of Serie A's best players these last three seasons in Bergamo and was arguably the best player in the entire league last season for Atalanta, playing a vital role in pulling La Dea up to Serie A title contention.
The Nigerian international probably should have moved to Inter Milan, but Atalanta, at the last second, drove an even harder bargain out of fear of making Inter too dominant as a direct title rival in Italy. They may be more open to selling the goal-scoring, right-footed left winger to Tottenham.
And Tottenham are in need of that profile even more than a Savinho or Akliouche, given they just sold the legendary left winger Son Heung-min to MLS this summer. Lookman is no prime Son, but the 2025/26 version of the Atalanta star is definitely a more dangerous threat and someone capable of grabbing double-digit goals, even in the tougher Premier League.
