Tottenham Hotspur has undoubtedly produced some high-quality football stars, many of whom continue to support the club even after their retirement, despite the recent struggles the team has faced.

Currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League, both fans and critics alike are hoping Tottenham can recover from the slump they have fallen into compared to last season.

On top of this, the club has been involved in a revived controversy surrounding Rodrigo Bentancur, who was handed a seven-match suspension for making racist comments towards a teammate.

Despite these challenges, Tottenham still enjoys the backing of their former stars, and one prominent figure offering his support is Teddy Sheringham.

In an interview with Best Offshore Sportsbooks, the former English footballer expressed that despite a few disappointing losses, such as the recent defeat to Ipswich, Tottenham is playing a much more exciting and attractive brand of football than in previous seasons under managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Now, under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham is the highest-scoring team in the Premier League, consistently creating numerous opportunities in every match.

Sheringham, while acknowledging the setbacks, remains optimistic about the team’s potential.

"Alright, sometimes things don’t go your way, and I don’t know what the atmosphere was like against Ipswich, but the vibe in general is great. I go there thinking I’m going to see excitement, chances, goalscoring opportunities, so I’m optimistic," Sheringham stated.

Sheringham also voiced his support for Postecoglou's tactical decisions, including the recent choice to bench James Maddison and shift playmaking duties to Dejan Kulusevski. "I like Kulusevski in that No. 10 position, but I also like Maddison playing alongside him as well. I thought they perform nicely together," he explained.

Tottenham must win at least one trophy this season

For Sheringham, one of the most important objectives for Tottenham this season is to secure at least one trophy.

The Carabao Cup and FA Cup could provide good opportunities, and even if the team’s performances are inconsistent, they still have a chance to achieve something significant.

Finally, Sheringham highlighted Dominic Solanke, who recently joined from Bournemouth for £60 million.

According to Sheringham, Solanke has the potential to score 20 goals this season due to his ability to play as a forward and generate goal-scoring opportunities.

While the team has faced some ups and downs, Sheringham believes the attacking and exciting style of play that Postecoglou has instilled in the squad is something that the fans should continue to support.
