Tottenham Hotspur have been the most active team in the Premier League this summe transfer window, and they have made moves beyond the wildest belief of the fan base. Roberto De Zerbi was able to bring in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes to upgrade their midfield for a combined 185 million pounds, and Spurs had already made three new signings to a defense that was already, at least on paper, a strength of the team talent wise.

But the biggest weakness Spurs have is the attack. Only Richarlison registered in the double digits of goals last season, and only Mohammed Kudus, who missed the final months of the 2025/26 season, proved to be a regular attacking threat.

Richarlison will be on the transfer block for another summer transfer window running, Randal Kolo Muani is already back at PSG, and that leaves only Dominic Solanke at striker. For the most part, Solanke was the first choice player for De Zerbi at the position because of his all around game, but he still did not do much of anything for De Zerbi before getting injured once more.

Tottenham need a new striker

Solanke briefly had a great spell for Tottenham Hotspur last season, but, otherwise, he was dreadful, and Tottenham fans are beginning to get frustrated with his performances. At the time of his transfer from Bournemouth in 2024, Solanke was Spurs record breaking signing at 65 million pounds. He has been nowhere near worth that much, struggling to score goals or stay on the pitch.

Heading into his third season at Tottenham, fans will no longer give Solanke the grace if he struggles. Injuries, acclimation, coaching, and the rest area all no longer going to be excuses. Solanke will have a great midfield, a great coach, and all the ingredients as a striker to succeed. Spurs are after top wingers like Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and Marcus Rashford this summer transfer window, too.

Tottenham have only been concretely linked to wingers this summer, but there are rumors that Roberto De Zerbi wants another striker. And the reality is that Spurs are going to have to sign a new striker to replace Richarlison - someone younger and better as a primary scorer.

Because Dominic Solanke cannot be the main man. He simply cannot score the goals to be one, and aside from his fluke 2023/24 season with Bournemouth, he has never been a goal scorer in the Premier League. And if Spurs do not sign a new striker to replace him, the fans are going to look at the body of work and turn on him in ugly fashion, because he will truly be exposed as a major problem holding the club back if he is not replaced. He can be the No. 2 but never the No. 1 up top.
