It is almost unanimous at this point that Tottenham Hotspur supporters view Thomas Frank as the worst manager in the history of the club. Frank took a team that was flawed after finishing 17th in the Premier League but buzzing after a Europa League win, and he totally destroyed them. The club's best players were either discarded or shattered of confidence, everyone looked worse, and the results were so sickening that Spurs would have been doomed for relegation if they did not finally give him the sack - and the only did it just in time, as Roberto De Zerbi merely had them safe on Matchday 38.

So many great young players were held back by Frank, such as Mathys Tel on the left wing, and even though he is fully COYS, even Tel was pondering leaving the club on loan during the winter transfer window.

Thomas Frank was somehow an even bigger disaster

And now, even months after Frank has left, the damage has already been done, as Lucas Bergvall is the latest to submit a transfer request to the club. Bergvall was utilized poorly by Thomas Frank - either rarely at all or in positions that did not suit him like the No. 10 position in midfield...or even the wing. Now, Bergvall was also not used by Roberto De Zerbi, but he had to use veterans to save Spurs from relegation.

The additional details behind how Frank coached Lucas Bergvall are even more upsetting, though. Because according to Alasdair Gold of Football.London, the Danish manager barely even spoke to Bergvall behind the scenes despite being his manager and Bergvall being one of the club's most talented stars of the future. Frank was a lot more distant to Bergvall than Ange Postecoglou, and his aloofness, whether deliberate or not, only served to alienate Bergvall further and question his status in the manager's plans. And given how Frank was utilizing him, it's fair to say that Bergvall's concerns were more than warranted.

It is likely, recalling how bizarre the manager's press conferences were, that his treatment of Bergvall was less malicious and more born out of an innate awkardness. But that's really no excuse, as the end result is the same, and a high level manager at a club like Tottenham should be, you know, talking with players and nurturing young talent. The seeds of Bergvall's dissent were sown by Frank months and months ago, and having a manager who is that bad leads to mistrust and relationships that are impossible to rebuild. Way to go, Frank.
