Arsenal supporters were spending just as much time rooting for Tottenham Hotspur to go down to the EFL Championship as they were hoping for their own side to hold off Manchester City in the Premier League title race, so turn about is fair play and it is only right for Spurs supporters to be cheering for the Gunners demise.

Despite two dubious handball calls going in their favor and Cristhian Mosquera not getting sent off for a second yellow despite a cynical foul on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the penalty box all the while doing Mikel Arteta's same dark arts anti football tactics, the Gunners still lost in penalties to PSG after a 1-1 draw in regulation.

It was termed a battle for the soul of football by everyone besides Arsenal supporters, as the world had gone tired of the 11 errant VAR calls, the cynical set piece Ping Pong tactics, Arteta's evil Megamind defensive tactics that even made Diego Simeone cringe, and the constant fouling and flopping rather than actually playing the game. Meanwhile, PSG were the champions last year and continued to play champagne football this season with some of the world's most exciting players in a synergistic style of football that centers the team and is always positive under Luis Enrique's guidance.

Tottenham fans have twisted reasons to cheer

Tottenham Hotspur fans are not only cheering that Arsenal lost a Champions League title they did not merit winning, but they are also happy that the two players who cost the Gunners in the penalty shootout were perhaps the two players Spurs supporters like the least.

Eberechi Eze came nowhere near the target witih an awful, awful penalty that veered off to the left. After seemingly agreeing to a deal wtih Tottenham, Eze went with Arsenal at the last second, leaving Spurs holding the bag. He was horrible all season except scoring a handful of goals in his two games against Tottenham, infuriating Spurs fans even more that he was only playing well against them. This penalty miss will make Spurs supporters feel a lot better, especially since Xavi Simons is the better and younger penalty.

But best yet, it was the goon of a center back Gabriel Magalhaes who missed the last penalty of the shootout to seal Arsenal's loss and PSG's second straight Champions League crown. Gabriel's phantom flop on Randal Kolo Muani in the North London Derby and constant petty antics on social media and on the pitch had worn Tottenham fans and the entire Premier League thin. So seeing him blow a shot over the bar was poetic justice, especially since many Spurs fans can't believe how he is getting Premier League Player of the Season attention over the likes of Antoine Semenyo.
