Richarlison joined Tottenham in the summer 2022 transfer window for a whopping 60 million pounds after receiving interest from clubs as big as Real Madrid and PSG. At the time, Richarlison was a starter on the Brazil national team and one of the best forwards in the Premier League, inexplicably carrying Everton to safety as the one true difference-maker on the Toffees.

So there was a hope that Richarlison would join forces with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to form one of the most devastating attacking trios in the Premier League - a group that could potentially match the elite clubs in the top four.

Instead, Richarlison's career has devolved in North London, with injury after injury robbing the 28-year-old of prime years of football. Although Richarlison hoisted the Europa League title last season, he was, in truth, only a bit player for Tottenham.

Richarlison is Tottenham's best sellable asset

He is now the most sellable asset Tottenham have this summer, yet it looks like actually selling him won't be as easy as some Spurs supporters had hoped. According to information from The Guardian's David Hytner in his latest column, Richarlison is understood to want to stay with Tottenham this summer and would only leave for an outstanding offer.

It's going to be difficult for Richarlison to be swayed in that way, considering he already rejected a hefty approach from Saudi Arabia last summer. Richarlison has notable transfer interest from Brazilian side Palmeiras, who were the biggest breakout team at this summer's Club World Cup, and they are said to be preparing a bid over 50 million pounds for him.

Tottenham could only salivate at an offer of 55 million pounds for Richarlison, considering that's exactly what they spent to sign one of the Premier League's top young standouts in Mohammed Kudus this summer. And that sort of money coming back could be used to sign a top-class No. 6, which is now Tottenham's biggest remaining need this summer.

But it looks like any dreams of a rich sale have to be put on hold. At 28, Richarlison likely isn't ready to escape to Brazil, which is usually the path Brazilian players take once they are well into their 30s, like Neymar and Marcelo. Richarlison is prone to injury but still does have something left in the tank, given he quietly scored 4 goals in only around 500 Premier League minutes for Spurs last season. It's hard to see him turning things around at Tottenham, though, and while Spurs fans don't have ill will towards him, there is a prevailing belief that it's time to cash out and move on.
