There is no question that the best player on Tottenham Hotspur last season was the new right winger Mohammed Kudus, who made the successful leap from rivals West Ham United to effectively carrying the Spurs attack.
But the Spurs were so anemic and lacked talent around Kudus, with Thomas Frank taking too much of a good thing. He ran the entire offense around Kudus, running the Ghanaian international into the ground until he went down with an injury. And after Kudus got injured, Spurs were truly pathetic, descending further into the Premier League relegation hole until Roberto De Zerbi was able to get them out of it.
After Kudus's injury proved to be worse than expected and cost him the entire rest of the season, Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been wondering when they can expect their most valuable player to be back and ready to work with De Zerbi, which is a prospect that excites everyone around North London (who does not wear red, that is).
Mohammed Kudus is so back
According to Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law in an appearance on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Mohammed Kudus is locked and loaded and will be ready to go when the 2026/27 season starts, fully fit for the beginning of the campaign.
Whlie Tottenham fans will know more about Kudus's status as the season gets closer, it is nonetheless reassuring to hear a reputable journalist, one who is often not afraid of reporting the pessimistic with this dysfunctional football club, to state that there is reason to be reassured and optimistic about the status of the club's best forward (by far) for the start of the crucial Premier League campaign ahead.
Kudus was the one real bright spot, and heading into his second season with a much better and a much less cowardly manager at the helm of Tottenham, Spurs supporters can only imagine what he will be capable of. And with Xavi Simons set to explode, James Maddison healthy, Dejan Kuluseveski potentially healthy, Archie Gray and Mathys Tel ready to play bigger roles, and Savinho set to sign on the opposite flank, Tottenham may just be a true top striker away from fielding an amazing attack.
The challenge for Kudus, when healthy, next seasno will be to improve his end product, particularly in terms of his ability to score and create scoring opportunities for himself while cutting inside into the half space.
