There are a few things that Tottenham Hotspur struggle with in comparison to their Premier League counterparts of similar stature in terms of revenue and fan interest. Firstly and most obviously, they don't invest in their squad to the levels of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, or even Arsenal and Liverpool.

But secondly, Tottenham also struggle to make sales. This transfer window, they have had months to sell players they didn't want in the squad, but, sitting at deadline day, Spurs are still struggling to offload Manor Solomon. They never bothered to sell Ben Davies either, and don't get Spurs fans started on how many years guys like Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil spent languishing in the squad.

The latest player to likely end up staying at Tottenham for another season before leaving absolutely free instead of fetching a fair sum on the summer 2025 transfer market is center midfielder Yves Bissouma, whom Spurs have, again, been trying to sell for months alongside Solomon.

Now, according to a report from The Sun's Rahman Osman, the veteran Premier League center midfielder is expected to stay in North London for the 2025/26 season despite significant transfer interest from Galatasaray in Turkey.

Tottenham will likely lose him for free

Galatasaray have been one of the busiest teams in the summer transfer window at picking up top European footballers heading into the decline phase of their career, such as Leroy Sane, and they actually even kept a star in their prime in Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

Bissouma to Galatasaray seemed like a highly likely deal, and Tottenham fans pretty much had him written in pen as a high-profile transfer departure this summer who could fetch them something like 10-20 million euros they could then use to chip away at the big transfer fee of a winger.

Instead, Bissouma is expected to stay through the remainder of the season, and because the 29-year-old will be out of contract in 2026, he can leave for free as early as the winter transfer window. And with the way things go for Tottenham, nobody will be surprised if he ends up at Galatasaray for free anyway.

Bissouma did help Tottenham immensely in the Europa League title run last season when players like Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison went down with injury, and he's a decent depth guy. So keeping him isn't the worst thing in the world; it's just that the problem is that it's money left on the table for a guy who will end up leaving for nothing soon enough.
