Tottenham Hotspur has the option to sign Timo Werner on a permanent basis. However, they will dispose of him after his loan contract ends.
Timo Werner has not set the world alight at Tottenham Hotspur. The Germany international came with a point to prove but he has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs on loan.
Timo Werner is under contract at Hotspur Way until the summer. It is only a temporary contract, he still belongs to his parent club RB Leipzig. However, Tottenham does have the option to make his signing permanent, for a fee of £8.5million.
Ange Postecoglou has been doing some thinking ahead of his summer transfer window plan. Unfortunately, it does not look good for Timo Werner.
Tottenham could dispose of attacker in the summer transfer window
According to an exclusive report by Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur expect Timo Werner's time in North London to come to an end after his loan spell. Rather than signing him permanently, they wish to pursue other options.
Furthermore, we reported last week that Timo Werner would be allowed to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window. If it was his wish to do so, Tottenham would not stand in the way of his plan.
The report from GMS has revealed that Tottenham want to sign a versatile winger. The North London outfit would like a multidimensional wide-player with the ability play on the left or right.
This season, Timo Werner is yet to get off the mark. He has made 11 appearances across all competitions, only managing one assist during this time. To put it bluntly, it is not a good enough return for a team of Tottenham's aspirations.
Therefore, at the end of his contract at maximum, Timo Werner will return to RB Leipzig, where his future will be decided. As it stands, he will not be a permanent Tottenham player beyond this season.
