Tottenham Hotspur 20 year old center midfielder Lucas Bergvall has asked for a transfer out after not playing much of a role in the team last season, suffering, in particular, under Thomas Frank while being asked to play in positions that were not optimal to his playing style or development.

And with Tottenham after both Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as blockbuster midfield transfers who will start immediately, Bergvall, like Luka Vuskovic, wants to leave Spurs this summer in order to go somewhere else where he can start immediately.

Nottingham Forest just sold Elliot Anderson for major money to Manchester City, and while Bergvall is not the only player they are interested in, Evangelos Marinakis seems to have targeted the Swedish international as his No. 1 get in that box to box role vacated by Anderson.

Tottenham are not setting a low Bergvall price point

According to a report from transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, via Daily Hotspur, Nottingham Forest recently submitted a transfer bid to Spurs for Bergvall, but Tottenham rejected the offer because it was too low.

Di Marzio said that Forest offered about 50 million euros for the player, and Spurs are not interested in selling for that low. There were reports earlier when Lucas Bergvall first expressed his desire to leave Spurs that indicated the club may accept an offer of 50 million euros or even less for the player, which annoyed supporters, so they will be happy to hear that Spurs did not entertain this bid from a club they do not like after the Morgan Gibbs-White transfer fiasco last summer window.

It is unclear if Tottenham Hotspur would have a different price point for a Premier League rival like Nottingham Forest as opposed to a club outside of the English top flight, but the only clubs currently linked to Bergvall are Forest, Aston Villa, and, loosely, Bayern Munich. Chelsea had been interested before, but with Xabi Alonso now coaching them and the likes of Granit Xhaka and Aurelien Tchouameni on their radar, the Bergvall trail has apparently gone cold.

But Tottenham have sent a clear message to Nottingham Forest. If they want Bergvall to be their next Elliot Anderson and a future breakout superstar, which he has all the tools to become, then they are going to need to pay significantly more than 50 million euros in order to make that move happen at the expense of Spurs. The last thing Spurs need is to accept a lower offer from a club that can burn them in their own league.
