Tottenham could score a much better last-minute move than Randal Kolo Muani this year

Last season, Fabio Paratici scored a last second striker addition on transfer deadline day, stealing PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan from under the noses of Juventus for Tottenham Hotspur. But it was a move Spurs would soon come to regret, as Kolo Muani spent almost the entire first half of the season unable to play due to a dead leg ailment. And outside of a hat trick against his parent club PSG, he was awful, getting worse and worse as the season went on.

By the end of the campaign, Tottenham fans were beyond fed up with Kolo Muani, whose loan to North London went down so poorly that he made Timo Werner look like Harry Kane by comparison. And now, with just a week or two left in the transfer window, Spurs remain in the same position as they were last season when they made that Kolo Muani loan transfer; they are just with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke at striker.

Tottenham would ideally sign a top No. 9 to start over them and keep Richy in a backup role after his 11 goals last season. Victor Osimhen is a dream option, Nicolas Jackson is a more realistic option, and there is little else on the market beyond them.

Christopher Nkunku is worth thinking about again

But there is one player worth considering whom Tottenham Hotspur once had interest in, former RB Leipzig and Chelsea standout Christopher Nkunku. Per Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has an offer to return to Leipzig, where he was a Ballon d'Or sleeper before making an ill fated transfer to Tottenham rivals Chelsea, where he actually played well but barely played due to injuries and dreadful coaching. Now that he has rehabbed his value at AC Milan, Nkunku is looking at all options.

Although Nkunku has little long term value and is an injury risk, when he is healthy, he is one of the best false nine center forward profiles in Europe. He is definitely better than Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani from a football IQ, consistency, and technical stand point with elite creativity and underrated finishing.

Christopher Nkunku should not be the No. 1, 2, or 3 option for Tottenham, but as a loan signing who can play multiple attacking positions and outperform Solanke, he is not a bad loan flier and is surely one thousand times better than Kolo Muani. And Nkunku has won silverware as a leader, leading Leipzig to their first and only major trophy in the 2022 DFB Pokal all by his lonesome.
