Tottenham Hotspur have passed up on so many opportunities to sign true difference-makers this summer transfer window. Outside of West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, they've pretty much balked on everyone. Xavi Simons, Rayan Cherki, Eberechi Eze, Alejandro Garnacho, Jack Grealish, James McAtee, and Morgan Gibbs-White are just a smattering of the excellent players they've missed out on this summer.
A lot of it stems from the usual lack of urgency and stinginess of club leadership, specifically chairman Daniel Levy. Clearly, only taking a punt on Kudus and Joao Palhinha on loan is insufficient to get a team that finished 17th in the Premier League to compete at a Champions League level in 2025/26.
Thankfully, Tottenham may be realizing that it's better late than never, as they've begun to show serious interest in Manchester City winger Savinho in the final weeks of the transfer window. Hopefully, this is more serious and sustained than their alleged interest in Bryan Mbeumo and Eberechi Eze, as Tottenham, in the end, haven't been intentional about signing either player. (Mbeumo has since moved to Manchester United).
Tottenham can sign the best FW available
According to the latest information from the Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones, after Tottenham were rejected for their opening Savinho offer, they are expected to submit an improved transfer bid to Manchester City that is closer to the 60 million pounds that would reportedly make Man City consider selling the talented 21-year-old.
Savinho, for all intents and purposes, is the best forward available on the transfer market at this stage and by far the best player Tottenham can realistically sign. With club legend Son Heung-min already moving to the United States with MLS giants LAFC, the urgency for another winger alongside Kudus this summer has only increased.
And Savinho is 100 percent a better player. He was more productive last season with eight assists, he's younger, and he was a legitimate La Liga Player of the Season candidate in the 2023/24 season for Girona back when the Manchester City partner club were briefly pushing Real Madrid for title contention in Spain.
Savinho is a special, dual-sided winger who would start any day of the week for Tottenham. For a U23 player with three strong seasons at the top two leagues in European football, 60 million pounds is honestly a steal, and Savinho is seriously underavlued. Think about it, Savinho is about to cost Tottenham the same price as Kudus when he's younger and better both as an athlete and in the consistency department with his final ball.
