Tottenham Hotspur did not sign a single left winger in the summer 2025 transfer window despite losing the legendary Son Heung-min to LAFC, as they did not pursue Manchester City star Savinho particularly hard, nor did they even attempt to go after Ademola Lookman from Atalanta at all. In the winter transfer window, Savinho's injury took him off the table, Spurs had no shot at his teammate Omar Marmoush and then watched Antoine Semenyo become his new teammate, and then they let Lookman go to Atletico Madrid without a fight.
So Spurs are back to the drawing board with no depth on the wings. Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are their only conceivable options on the left wing, while the right wing is merely occupied by Mohammed Kudus of the left footed players, as Dejan Kulusevski's career may very well be threatened by a knee injury from the 2024/25 season that he still has not returned to practice from.
Tottenham are returning to the market for Savinho now that Manchester City appear to be more open to selling the Braziliian star with a new regime in charge, but the standout young left winger isn't the only young Premier League budding star at the position whom Spurs are discussing signing.
Tottenham want to steal from a rival
According to reporting from Spurs insider @szyexcl, as the deal for Savinho continues to advance, Spurs have also been in contact with the reps of West Ham United left winger Crysencio Summerville, whom clubs are hoping can be one of the bargains of the summer transfer window now that the Hammers have been relegated (instead of Spurs, of course). The London rivals' starting left winger is, just as his former teammate Mohammed Kudus on the right hand side, also open to move to Spurs.
Summerville is nowhere near as talented or consistent as Kudus, and there are a lot of Spurs supporters who would be skeptical about his ability to help the team if he could not help the Hammers avoid relegation. Spurs fans want to see the club go for higher tier targets so they can get out of being like West Ham and in the relegation zone and more like, say, Arsenal and competing for Premier League titles.
But Summerville is an explosive player who can create his own shot and score, and he also works hard on both ends of the pitch. If the price is right, there are worse options out there than the Dutch international.
