Tottenham Hotspur star right back Pedro Porro made his return to the starting lineup last weekend against Aston Villa after missing the previous two games with fitness issues, but the Spanish national team star did not last even 20 minutes, going down with what Roberto De Zerbi termed as an apparent hamstring injury.

Porro has only managed to play a couple of games this season, and even though De Zerbi and Tottenham have been much more cautious with injuries this season than any other preceding coach or medical staff has been at the club - and they have been especially cautious with Porro after his grueling World Cup triumph with La Roja - Porro still can't manage to stay healthy.

As Tottenham fans have suspected since watching the scenes unfold for Porro in the eventual 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, the starting right back is indeed injured. According to a report from Jack Pitt-Brooke and Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Porro will miss about a month of action with a hamstring injury.

Pedro Porro is expected to play against Chelsea

Spurs are confident, though, that Porro can make it back for the massive Oct. 24 fixture against Chelsea, who are also struggling under a touted modern manager in Xabi Alonso, formerly of Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid.

Pedro Porro was obviously going to miss the September international break with Spain in light of his fitness issues, but he will still miss an important game for Spurs on the way back, as Tottenham have to face another Big Six opponent in Manchester United on Oct. 10. He will also miss the Oct. 19 fixture against Coventry. And if Spurs can't have Porro back for the Chelsea game, they will hope to at least have him ready on Oct. 31 when they face another London rival in Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur do not have a single right back in the squad with Porro injured, as they sold Djed Spence to Inter Milan this summer and were unable to replace the other big World Cup hero. So Archie Gray will have to play at right back again, and while he is not the worst option there, he is well below par out of position - and playing at right back is hurting his development.

That said, Tottenham have avoided the worst with Porro. He will miss a couple of games for the club, but the injury isn't expected to be serious. They just have to make sure he does not get an aggravation, even if that means missing out on the Chelsea derby.
