Tottenham Hotspur were highly interested in signing Savinho from Manchester City last summer transfer window, but despite the Brazilian international seeming expendable, Pep Guardiola and the club were firm on keeping him around, especially when it was made obvious to them that Rodrygo Goes would not be able to leave Real Madrid as his potential replacement.

Spurs did not necessarily go all that hard after Savinho either, and the former Girona star was unavailable in the winter due to injury. And Tottenham really did miss having another dynamic winger on the left across from Mohammed Kudus, especially after the Ghanaian star went down with a season ending injury.

Tottenham remain interested in Savinho this summer, with there being more chances of him leaving now that Guardiola and other key members of the previous Man City regime are out. Savinho, though, was not the only Manchester City star forward Spurs were after last season, as they also had a lot of interest in the more goal scoring Omar Marmoush, though the Egyptian international had no interest in leaving Man City - let alone leaving for Spurs.

An even more enticing option than Savinho

But Spurs are not giving it up. According to Manchester City insider The Real Tolmie's Hairdoo, who is sort of their equivalent of Paul O Keefe for Tottenham, Spurs are one of three clubs with an interest in signing Marmoush. The others are Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Aston Villa, who also qualified for the Champions League next season.

O Keefe and other Spurs insiders have cautioned fans that Marmoush is not a realistic option for Tottneham Hotspur since he has even higher wages than Savinho and is a more marquee player, placing higher in Man City's rotation with more goal scoring upside.

But that is precisely why a lot of Tottenham Hotspur supporters would prefer that the club make a strong play for Omar Marmoush, since Spurs need both dynamism and goals. Savinho is a great dribbler who can create a lot of chances, but he is not a real goal scoring threat, which is what Spurs were lacking the most last season as Richarlison was the only one who could score goals.

It will be interesting to see if, like Savinho, Man City are a little more open to selling Marmoush this summer with new people in charge of day to day transfer decisions, but Savinho is probably the more realistic buy for the Lilywhites.
