Tottenham Hotspur ruffled a lot of feathers at the end of the summer transfer window, as some fans soured on the entire offseason of business after Tottenham not only botched the Richarlison sale and failed to land a real impact forward before settling on a loan for Chelsea flop Mykhaylo Mudryk, but they also sold Kevin Danso to Sunderland - a potential rival for European places - and replaced him with another Chelsea transfer flop in Tosin Adarabioyo.
While Mudryk is injured already and is doing little to prove Roberto De Zerbi right for his loan gamble on the Ukrainian winger, Tosin had himself a stellar game against Liverpool in the League Cup despite a 3-1 defeat.
Every time Tosin has been out there for Tottenham, he has looked good, and considering he was a little more than 10 million pounds cheaper than Danso, Spurs may have saved money and signed a better player and fit for De Zerbi Ball in the process.
Tosin Adarabioyo looked so much better for Tottenham
Tosin had his struggles for Chelsea, but he honestly looked even better than the version of himself at Fulham in his first start in Lilywhite colors against Liverpool. The 28 year old central defender completed 90 percent of his passes, won seven aerial duels, cleared the ball five times, blocked two shots, won three tackles, and picked off a pass while even getting a couple of shots off.
Although Kevin Danso became a beloved player for Tottenham Hotspur fans with his willingness to put his body on the line and his dominance of the air, Tosin Adarabioyo actually did those things against the Reds while offering more quality on the ball and actually more interventions defensively with more speed as an athlete than Danso had.
It looks like, even though it was just one start, that Tosin is going to be an upgrade on Danso, and the money saved is another real bonus for a Spurs side that still needs to sign a true right back this coming winter to bolster the depth behind Pedro Porro after the sale of the versatile Djed Spence this past summer transfer window.
Tosin had his doubters from within Tottenham, and many Chelsea fans were makin fun of Johan Lange, Vinai Venkatesham, and Roberto De Zerbi for taking a flier on the center back. But it just might have been one of the biggest low key steals from a rival in Europe this summer.
