Tottenham's transfer activity didn't conclude when the Premier League's January window slammed shut on Monday evening.
It was a frustrating window for the Lilywhites, with Thomas Frank's squad in need of greater bolstering than it received. Conor Gallagher, in isolation, appears a good bit of business, but little is known about João Souza and when he'll be ready to meaningfully contribute.
Curiously, the club opted against addressing their depleted frontline. After Brennan Johnson was sold to Crystal Palace, Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison picked up significant injuries. It seemed inevitable that Spurs would dip their toe in the market, but oddly, it looked like we were keen on staging a fire sale.
Randal Kolo Muani was linked with a return to Juventus, while Dane Scarlett departed on loan to Hibernian (and started well). Then, after Johan Lange tried to explain the club's January thinking, we learned of another sale.
Tottenham prepared to lose money on Paratici gamble
Spurs have agreed a deal with Bahia to sell Alejo Veliz after his current loan at Rosario Central, but nothing signed yet. Understand it will be a £7.8m (9m euros) deal with £871k in add-ons (1m euros) plus a 20% sell-on clause.

Fiorentina's new sporting director took a punt on young Argentine forward Alejo Véliz in August 2023, a deal which set us back £9m. Little was known about the Rosario Central starlet, but Véliz never looked to be of the required level.
The striker enjoyed loan spells at Sevilla, Espanyol, and back at Rosario without ever developing into the potentially profitable asset Paratici seemingly thought he could be.
Instead, Spurs are selling him for a loss—albeit a small one.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that a deal has been agreed between the Lilywhites and Brazilian club Bahia worth £7.8m, plus £871,000 in add-ons. He'll remain on loan with Rosario until the end of the season, before completing the switch in June. So yeah, I'm sorry to deliver such sombre news, but we'll never see Alejo Véliz in a Tottenham shirt again.
That consolation at Brighton won't be forgotten, pal. How about that time when his leg exploded (not literally) and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg still tried to pick him out on the counter-attack? Oh, the memories.
Spurs, in truth, have done well to only make a small loss, given what Véliz has produced over the past couple of years. His move to Bahia means the City Football Group have gotten ahold of him, and that probably means he'll eventually develop into Manchester City's starting centre-forward once Erling Haaland feels as if has no more land to conquer in England.
You WILL be forgotten, young sir, but I bet you're a damn good answer to a bit of football trivia in a few years time.
