Tottenham's January transfer window almost cost them a place in the Premier League.
The club made just two signings, and failed to bolster a frontline that had lost Mohammed Kudus to a thigh injury and Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. Come the end of the season, Djed Spence was utilized in a more advanced role, while Randal Kolo Muani cosplayed as a professional footballer.
Still, Roberto De Zerbi found a way to retain our top-flight status.
Curiously, Spurs are yet to improve their forward line in the summer window, with significant steps taken to rejuvenate the defence and midfield. After an early splurge, sales are supposedly the current priority, and it seems as if De Zerbi has given up on one of Johan Lange's January arrivals.

Porto close to reaching deal for Spurs left-back Souza
According to Brazilian news outlet Globo, Porto have leapfrogged Benfica in the race to sign Spurs left-back Souza.
The 20-year-old joined from Santos in the winter, and featured four times in the Premier League—all under Igor Tudor. He racked up 144 minutes of action, with his brightest performance arriving when Tudor deployed him in a wide right position at Anfield.
Spurs didn't expect Souza to be counted upon right away, instead signing him as a player to develop. However, it seems that De Zerbi has seen enough. Despite the Brazilian's youth, I don't think the manager believes Souza will amount to anything in north London.
Thus, the club is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Porto worth €20m. Souza was signed in January for €15m.
It's not yet clear whether the Portuguese club would be signing the 20-year-old on loan with an option/obligation to buy, or if they'll be purchasing him outright this summer. For Spurs, either is a decent result; €5m profit for warming the bench for a few months.
His departure would be damning on the scouts who sought Souza out as a left-back worth developing, and only makes our January window look even sorrier.
Without the Brazilian, Spurs will head into 2026/27 with Destiny Udogie and Andy Robertson competing for the starting spot, and we hope Spence will still be around to provide cover at both full-back positions.
Robertson made his unofficial Spurs bow against Sydney FC on Wednesday and left an impression. Whoever's starting up top next season is bound to benefit from the Scot's impressive crossing ability, which Udogie lacks.
