Tottenham Hotspur are looking to end the summer 2025 transfer window on a high note after only signing Mohammed Kudus as a new starter to a permanent deal. The Kudus coup from West Ham could be a game-changing addition to an attack that is reeling from a combination of injuries and the departure of club legend Son Heung-min, but it alone is insufficient.
Spurs, after all, finished just 17th in the Premier League last season and now have the Champions League to compete in next season with the need to finish in the top five. That requires a marked improvement, and Spurs simply don't have the current personnel to compete with the likes of Chelsea.
So Tottenham are showing interest in established Premier League stars like Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze and Manchester City winger Savinho. They have to sign not one, but two, difference-makers to the attack, and striking out on even one of these targets necessitates a contingency plan.
Tottenham have one such player on their list in Brighton's Facundo Buonanotte. According to a report from the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, Tottenham have added the 20-year-old Argentinian international to their transfer wishlist in the final weeks of the summer.
Buonanotte is such a smart addition for Spurs to their wishlist, though the concern is that Brighton likely won't give him up for anything on ther than a simple one-year loan. But that's better than nothing and even if it does not include a buy option, it gives Spurs a leg up on Buonanotte if he really wants to move there after a successful season.
He spent the last season on loan at Leicester City and has been impressive both for the Seagulls and the Foxes, capable of starting as an attacking midfielder or a winger at the Premier League level. That versatility, upside, and combination of explosiveness and playmaking creativity makes him a solid transfer market for Tottenham.
Spurs should go for Savinho as their priority on the wings, but if Manchester City drive too hard of a bargain or ultimately decide that they don't want to sell one of the best wingers in the world, Tottenham can go for Buonanotte as a cheap option who is still more proven than the likes of Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel in the Premier League.
Even though he didn't start every game last year, Buonanotte still scored five Premier League goals, which is a better return than most Tottenham wingers, even though Buonanotte is primarily a creator and progressor and not a scoring winger.
