Thomas Frank has only managed one Premier League game at Tottenham, but already, he has made quite the impact. Spurs scored three goals without reply, and they looked good while doing it.

Tottenham will naturally receive criticism for beating a newly promoted team but... They still won. And they can only beat the team's presented to them. If Spurs bring that level of performance to the rest of the teams in the Premier League, there's no reason to believe they can't win.

Of course, there is expected to be more transfer business. Spurs will only improve their squad before the summer transfer window closes. But it's not the transfer business which is the most impressive, it's how Spurs has kept their most important player.

James Cormack recently described Tottenham extending Cristian Romero's contract as "their most important news of the summer." It was particularly timely because just after Ange Postecoglou's departure, Romero was one of the players linked with a move away.

Thomas Frank just told Atletico Madrid "thanks, but no thanks"

And the club he was linked to, Atletico Madrid, should not be overlooked. For a brief time period, it seemed inevitable that Romero would leave Tottenham and join Atletico Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in the world. But he didn't. He has, this week, cemented his future at Tottenham.

And that's massive news, not just for Tottenham, but for Thomas Frank. Frank hasn't had it easy since his arrival in Hotspur Way, with the departure of club legend Son, the detrimental injury to Maddison and the all-round criticism he received for replacing a Europa League champion.

Not to mention big European clubs eyeing up his players.

But, Frank has convinced Romero to stay. We'll never truly know what was said, or what was promised, but we can hazard a pretty good guess that Frank played a key role.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Thomas Frank sees Romero as a key part of the Tottenham project. So, reading between the lines, Frank was likely a key part of Romero's decision to stay.

Which is quite something. As mentioned, Romero loved Postecoglou. The two of them got on like a house on fire, and Romero was one of the players openly on Ange's side.

So, it took a real leader to come in and convince Romero that he can be an even better player under his tutelage. That leader was Thomas Frank, and we musn't overlook his role in keeping Romero, and making Atletico Madrid do a slow and awkward walk away.
