Tottenham Hotspur have a history of managers they would rather forget, but Thomas Frank has a sincere case for being the worst of the worst. Although Spurs started the season well under his reign and there was actually a lot of praise for him in the early going, looking back, a lot of what he got credit for was really just the squad playing with the mind set given to them by Ange Postecoglou, his predecessor in the dugout.

By the time Frank's ideas really set in, Tottenham were unable to win a single game in the Premier League, devolving into the most toothless and cowardly team in perhaps all of European football as they plunged into the depths of a relegation fight that they could only get out of on Matchday 38 after a new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, saved the day.

Thomas Frank's demise in less than a year from one of England's most touted up and coming managers to arugably its worst has been shocking to witness, and while Tottenham fans could not be happer to be rid of them, there is a bit of schadenfreude in corners of the fan base wondering where exactly he might land next.

Thomas Frank is taking a hiatus

But Tottenham Hotspur supporters should not expect an answer from Frank soon. In a statement, Frank relayed that he is going to be taking a break from management and will not be taking any new jobs this summer.

The Danish coach said, "When the time is right, I will look forward to my return as a manager, ready to embrace the job with great energy and dedication…"

Frank was viewed as something of a genius at Brentford, but after how poorly he did at Tottenham and with how much better the Bees actually did without him, the business model and front office at the club have to get full credit.

Set to be a pundit this World Cup summer, along with Ange Postecoglou, Frank's career is already at a crossroads with how much of a reputation hit he took in the 2025/26 season. His tactical ideas were awful, his press conferences were embarrassing, and his results were even worse than both of those.

Frank is a nice guy and it's easy to see why the media loves him, so Tottenham fans will actually wish him the best. But even they will agree that Frank taking a step back after how terrible he was in 2025/26 is the best move for everyone in the sport.
