In all honesty, Tottenham Hotspur have done frustratingly little to support Thomas Frank on the transfer market this summer, and while that's hardly anything but par for the course for this ENIC-run club, it's nonetheless frustrating to see a lack of well-rounded investment in the squad just months after 1) winning the Europa League and 2) replacing Ange Postecoglou with the ex-Brentford coach.

None of Frank's talented pupils from Brentford have joined him at Tottenham - not even defensive midfielder and captain Christian Norgaard, who actually joined the significantly more proactive North London rivals Arsenal.

But at least Tottenham have brought in two starters this summer in West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus and former Fulham No. 6 Joao Palhinha. But with massive needs in a squad that finished just 17th in the Premier League, despite their Europa League showing, and is already going to miss their top players from that season, Spurs know they have to do more to close the window.

The big opportunity Tottenham are chasing now is Manchester City star winger Savinho, and Fabrizio Romano recently reported on his YouTube channel that Thomas Frank is the one really pushing hard for Savinho to come to North London this summer.

Tottenham need to grant Thomas Frank his wish

And Tottenham have every reason to grant their manager his wishes. For starters, they haven't done enough to help Frank, but now their needs on the wing are impossible to ignore with their biggest modern club legend and literal leading scorer from the 2024/25 season, Son Heung-min, now gone to MLS to play for Hugo Lloris's LAFC.

Tottenham can't go into the season with Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson, and Kudus as their only healthy wingers. But if you throw Savinho, a player who had eight assists in his Premier League debut season for Man City, into the mix, all of a sudden that questionable group becomes quite excellent.

And that's because the 21-year-old Savinho is young and electric but actually a proven option, whereas the current Tottenham wingers aren't, save for maybe the currently injured Dejan Kulusevski. Savinho was one of the best players in La Liga before his successful move to the most successful club in the Premier League over the past decade.

So if Tottenham can land that player and back Frank, that would be massive. It's easy to see why Frank wants a guy who can progress the ball, score, assist, and create shots out of thin air for himself and teammates from either wing. You don't get to sign those kinds of players often.
