Tottenham Hotspur have been the most active team in the Premier League this summer transfer window, signing two potentially world class midfielders in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes for nearly 200 million pounds combined, and they also signed two starting caliber, proven Premier League center backs in Bournemouth free agent Marcos Senesi and Roberto De Zerbi's old Brighton pal Jan Paul van Hecke.
Spurs already have grounds to have a much improved spine of their team in the 2026/27 season, but after finishing 17th in back to back years, every Spurs supporter knows that the club are going to have to make even more moves to close the summer 2026 transfer window if they are to achieve their ambitions of finishing in the top five again.
The Lilywhites only had one goal scoring threat last season in Richarlison, who is on the transfer short list once again. Randal Kolo Muani barely made an impact on loan and has already made his way back to PSG, while Dominic Solanke is not the kind of striker who can regularly score goals.
Tottenham have the base, now they need the goals
As the World Cup wraps up with the Final between Spain and Argentina, Tottenham Hotspur fans are going to be pushing harder and harder for the attacking signings, specifically a new striker who can actually put away the chances Spurs will be able to create.
Because Roberto De Zerbi did a great job of pushing for signings who can keep the ball and progress it like Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and even Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke from the center back positions. But all that possession and progression will not mean much if Tottenham cannot finish off the moves and score goals.
Now, Tottenham do need wingers, too, to supplement Mohammed Kudus and the young players like Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, but most of all, they need a striker who can actually match the top level of the Premier League. Tottenham have been linked to Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and other wingers who can bring quality, dynamism, and goals and assists, but aside from Eli Junior Kroupi, who seems like a pipe dream with how reluctant Bournemouth are to sell their biggest gem, Tottenham do not have a single concrete link to a striker.
Based on how Tottenham bought at center back before selling Cristian Romero and Luka Vuskovic, the argument of needing to sell Richarlison or even Dominic Solanke with him before signing a new striker does not hold much weight. Spurs fans will want the club to get on a new striker signing as soon as possible.
