Tottenham Hotspur supporters can prepare for a very grim summer 2026 transfer window if they go down from the Premier League this season, and after another listless defeat to a London rival, it's all not looking too good for Spurs.
Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Luka Vuskovic are three crucial players who have already been linked to big clubs abroad, but they are not the only star players who could leave Spurs this season. As is evidenced by the performances of these actually talented players, there is not a lot of heart or character in the Tottenham dressing room, so loyalty is going to be hard to come by. These players will not hesitate to bolt from the ship they sunk.
Yet even the players who have worked hard and been effective will be coveted, perhaps even moreso, by other clubs around Europe, including within the Premier League. According to a new report from Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, striker Dominic Solanke is one of the big names who could quit Spurs this summer. Newcastle United are already interesting in poaching him after the move for Brentford veteran Yoane Wissa failed last summer.
Newcastle want Dominic Solanke
Solanke cost Spurs a record 65 million pounds in 2024, and while he has not repaid that fee and has serious injury questions, Solanke did help Spurs win the Europa League last season. The all arounder has also been the team's best No. 9 this season with a few excellent performances.
Although big players, like Van de Ven and Vuskovic, have been linked with moves away from Tottenham throughout the 2025/26 season, Solanke is the first new name to be strongly linked with a team that should honestly be of lesser status than Tottenham. Newcastle are a big club and have come bigger thanks to Saudi Arabia, but they are not in the Big Six or a historic club in London like Spurs.
Solanke is the first transfer rumor domino to fall in what will surely be a windfall of rumblings hinting at an exodus of big, highly paid players leaving Tottenham this summer. And as brutal as that could be to Spurs hopes of coming up, the common refrain from fans will likely be that of good riddance. Because if these are the players who got Spurs sent down, even the good ones like Solanke may not be so good - and Spurs may be better off hitching their wagon to young, hungry players who believe in the badge.
